A visit to the Apple store

Yesterday, a friend and I walked into the Apple store, we played around with their display MacBook, and ended up restarting it and running Windows XP on it, we left the store leaving Windows XP running. Was that a mean thing to do?

Searching online and privacy

Whenever I have something on my mind that I need answers about, I always refer to the Internet. My two main references are Google and MSN Search. I have always thought that they know everything that is happening in the world, but I never thought that they knew this much!!!!

The US Government has issued a subpoena asking the online search engines to hand in a list of searches conducted by their users. Some of these companies complied and provided the search data while stating that "they did not reveal any personally identifiable information about their users". The only engine not to reveal this data was Google.

This presents a question that needs to be asked, what kind of information are these search engines keep concerning my searches? Should they store any thing if I don't ask them to?

If I ask Google or MSN to keep my search history so that I can come back to it, then I don't mind. But if some one is doing a search without signing in to his account, then what information is kept? That's if any should be!!

This issue needs to be thought of a lot more, and unfortunately, since the Internet and online services world is still "immature" and has not been completely defined yet, the issue of privacy will always keep popping up until people say: "Ok, we have had it!" And this needs to be a global action.

Microsoft Developer Action Figures

For those hardcore Microsoft developers out there; like me for instance, Microsoft has announced its Developer Action Figure collection called Source Fource. The collection is composed of four Developer Super Heroes that will be presented one figure a month, the first action figure to be presented was the MSDN Web cast superhero, or the MSDN Web cast Guy; as MS says on his profile page: "His Parents weren't very creative".

These action figures can be collected by attending at least four live MSDN Web casts or four MSDN Virtual Labs in a given month.

Wait a minute and don't get so excited, MS can't make it this easy, there is a catch. You will need to complete an evaluation afterwards, and this offer is only available for the first 5000 attendees that took the USA or Canada as their country of residence! Why am I being punished for not living in the US or Canada?? Well, I guess I'll have to wait till the collection is available on eBay! Or can I wait till my visit to Microsoft Campus?
